So, How Did This MasterMind Thing Get Started?
9 Year Old Uncovers CEO's Secret!!!
A class of fourth grade 9 year old students discover the long hidden secret
of a 35 year old, highly successful CEO. Asked to do a project on any subject
matter, their teacher taught this 4th grade class a world class project methodology.
Coincidently, a 35 year old CEO uses fundamentally the same
methodology, to introduce many new multi million dollar a year products for
his business every year. Both stand out from the crowd, because of their ability
to move projects from concept into reality faster than anyone else. They are
less stressed and have full lives. For the CEO, we are not talking just one
project, but many at the same time.
Consistent Peak Performance
Some people are always on top of things. They are fully engaged. On top of
their game. All Cylinders pumping. They are emotionally centered and possess
great knowledge in many areas of expertise. A Gallup survey shows that only
about 20 % of organizations have people approaching this level performance.
Of that group only a small handful live at that level consistently. What is
their secret? The children and the CEO work from a position of knowing. They
do not merely believe they will achieve their results, they all know it from
their hearts. Working from a position of knowing is what inspired The MasterMind
H^3 material.
MasterMind H^3 (pronounced H – cubed)
An Effective Project Mastery System that’s more than Time Management.
MasterMind H^3 goes beyond Day Planners. It allows you or your team to get
more done, in a shorter period of time, with less stress. MasterMind H^3 uses
a fundamental approach involving the Head, Hands, and Heart. A Project Compounding
methodology, Inspired by a 9 yr old, a successful CEO, and working with Leaders
in global 6 sigma companies. Six Sigma is about taking your best and brightest
people, having them work on your toughest problems, by giving them all the
tools and resources needed to solve them. That amounts to about 10 to 20 %
of the organizational talent pool. What about the remaining 80%? Evidence
shows that the returns of expanding that pool leads to exponential impact.
Six Sigma’s target is Process Improvement. Mastermind does much more.
It does however recognize this attribute of the organization and goes beyond
it! MasterMind H^3 builds on an individuals strengths. As each person becomes
part of a team, they are able to stay focused by creating a universal dialogue
throughout the organization. In the global economy the winners turn events
into final products of flawless quality in less time. Mastering Project flow,
creates higher margins from innovative products faster. Harnessing MasterMind
H^3 techniques actually reduces stress and becomes inspiration rather than
perspiration. Instead of people "Loosing Their Minds", they will
learn to master them. The MasterMind H^3 System: A powerful team tool, providing
structured templates, is a peak performance guide for the whole organization.
With the rate of change going on in the world today, that can mean all the
difference for your company, friends, and family.
Background
Let me share with you how a CEO of an incredibly successful company;
1) Grew from zero to nearly a dozen, high margin, multi-million
dollar per year products in 3 years,
2) Spawned a professional organization,
3) Became an industry leader,
4) Was a major innovator of new products, and
5) Spent quality time with his family.
Before I get to his secret, let me tell you a true story
about my 9 year old 4th grade son and "The Loch Ness Monster".
He came home from school one day to announce he had another
project to do. Thinking, good lord, not another project. The previous “Disaster
Project” he did, an Indian Longhouse, was an absolute nightmare causing
great tension in the household. Leaving it till the last minute to finish,
I got high-jinxed into completing it for him, getting to bed at 5:30 AM. Incidentally,
we got an A on it.
The Project; He had to write a research paper on the subject
of his choice. He chose to write about "The Loch Ness Monster".
He was given 3 months to complete the assignment and had to read between 6
to 10 books on the subject. He went to the library and selected 8. The final
report consisted of 20 hand written pages which typed into 10 final pages
with the bibliography, intermixed photographs, and a table of contents. That
in of itself is impressive, I'm sure you'll agree.
What was amazing (unlike the last project) he never, and
I mean never had a single stressful moment during the whole project. He still
was able to do the rest of his homework. Watch his after school television
show, and play on his video games with his sister. His secret was, he had
a teacher who understood the power of compounding. Every day he had to fill
out a minimum of 4 - 4x6 index cards with a question, an answer, and the source
from where it came. Over a few non-stressful weeks he had accumulated 100
cards. He spent between 15 to 45 minutes a day on this phase of the project.
Each day he was building more knowledge, his retention of the subject matter
became fuller, and he was able to integrate the subtleties of the subject
matter. He then grouped the cards into categories that formed the chapter
headings. He created the outline from these groupings and transcribed the
cards into these headings. As he transcribed the cards onto paper, he added
depth to the material. The power of compounding had paid off dramatically.
In his class were 15 other kids who went through the same experience and the
reports were amazing. The subjects were of presidents, famous leaders, writers,
animals, castles, and more.
What does this have to do with the CEO? One day the
CEO and I were stuck in an airport after winning a $2.5 million contract.
(That contract by the way, provided the client with the skills to reduce
costs on an annual basis of $30 million per year proactively and consistently
after 12 months of training.) Anyway's, back at the airport. While we
waited in a restaurant, he opened his travel bag which contained a dozen
file folders. One by one he took each one out and made phone calls,
wrote a quick note on each one, with a follow-up action item that needed
to be done. On a few, he proceeded to type a letter on his laptop, jotting
down in the file the name of the letter. He noted that he sent a copy
via email and to print a few hard copies when he got back to the office,
put a copy in the file, and mail an original. The longest amount of
time he spent on any one item was about 15 minutes, with most taking
no more than 5. Within that 2 hour wait, he had accomplished what most
people take a week to do. Each folder was thick with material, and was
actually a whole dossier on each specific subject matter. This File
System was part of his secret. The system helped him leverage compounding
events to his strategic advantage. He was able to mobilize ideas faster
than any of his competitors. But, he also had fundamental structural
foundations which he could use as a guide.
During the 80's US corporation in response to stiff competition
from Japan and Germany began what is now known as the culture of "Continuous
Improvement". The gains in productivity seen during the 90's stem from
these efforts. But, mature continuous improvement organizations are facing
a glass ceiling. These programs optimize events into “Process”.
They fail to realize that process is only one attribute of events. The MasterMind
H^3 system completes the picture. The MasterMind H^3 System guides you through
the thought process needed for successful project activity.
You will be reminded of the different stages of the creation
process. What’s more, the system helps you through several projects
at the same time. Simplicity is the secret. It is not a complicated “Technology”
product that must be mastered. It requires no batteries that go dead. You
don’t need to find an outlet to plug into. You can use it in a park,
on a train, or on a plane.
